Water-Damaged Drywall & Ceiling Repair

A leak is fixed, but the stain, sag or soft spot is still there. We cut out the damaged section and patch it so you can’t tell anything happened.

Water-Damaged Drywall & Ceiling Repair by The Patch Guyz

Water and drywall don’t mix. Once gypsum gets wet it softens, the paper face can lift and stain, and a ceiling can sag or crack. After the plumber, roofer or HVAC tech has fixed the source, what’s left behind is a drywall problem, and that’s all we do.

We remove only the section that’s compromised, check that the framing behind it is dry, and install a matched piece of drywall that we tape, finish and texture to blend with the rest of the wall or ceiling. The result is a solid, paint-ready surface without the cost of redoing the whole room.

The Patch Guyz are drywall repair specialists. We patch and restore existing walls and ceilings. We don’t do new-construction drywall or whole-room remodels.

Text a picture of the damage to 248-759-9919, use the estimate form, or call 1-877-728-2448. Most estimates come back within the hour.

  2. 2

    Get a clear price

You get an upfront, by-the-job price before we start. No hourly meter and no surprise add-ons.

  3. 3

    We patch it

We protect the floor, cut back damaged material, set backing where needed, then tape, mud and sand in thin coats.

  4. 4

    Texture matched, paint-ready

We blend the surface or match your existing texture and leave a clean, primed, paint-ready patch. Touch-up paint of the repaired area is available.

Painting over a water stain rarely holds: the stain bleeds through and damaged gypsum keeps crumbling. Cutting out the bad section and patching it properly is the permanent fix, and it’s usually far less than people expect.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you just paint over a water stain?

If the drywall is still firm and dry, sealing the stain with a stain-blocking primer can work. If it’s soft, bowed or crumbling, the section needs to be cut out and patched. We’ll tell you which one you need from a photo.

Do you fix the leak too?

No. We’re drywall patch specialists. Have the plumber or roofer fix the source first, then we repair the drywall once it’s dry.

How long after a leak can you patch?

As soon as the area is dry. Small areas are often ready within a day or two of the leak being fixed; we check moisture before closing anything up.

Will the patch show on my ceiling?

No. We feather the joints wide and match your ceiling texture, smooth or textured, so the repair blends in once painted.

Can you document the damage for insurance?

Yes. We can photograph the damage before and after and provide an itemized estimate you can submit with your claim.
