Where Architectural History Meets Modern Drywall Mastery
Grosse Pointe is home to some of Michigan’s most architecturally significant residences — from Tudor Revival mansions in Grosse Pointe Farms to the Georgian estates of Grosse Pointe City. These homes demand a contractor who understands more than just drywall: they require someone who respects original plaster craftsmanship, matches period-specific textures, and completes repairs that blend invisibly with walls that have stood for nearly a century.
The Patch Guyz have earned the trust of Grosse Pointe homeowners by combining old-world attention to detail with modern materials and techniques. Whether you need drywall repair near Detroit or wall patching in Wayne County, our crews bring the same level of craftsmanship to every project regardless of zip code.

Drywall Services Tailored to Grosse Pointe Homes
Every home in the Grosse Pointes has unique wall and ceiling needs. Our services cover everything from delicate plaster repairs to large-scale drywall installations for additions and renovations.
Plaster & Lath Restoration
Many Grosse Pointe homes built before 1950 feature traditional plaster-and-lath walls that require specialized repair. We stabilize crumbling plaster, repair damaged lath strips, and match original hand-troweled textures that standard drywall contractors simply cannot replicate. Our team understands the unique challenges of working with horsehair plaster, gypsum brown coat, and veneer plaster systems found in historic lakefront properties along Lakeshore Drive and Kercheval Avenue.

Ceiling Crack & Water Damage Repair
Grosse Pointe’s proximity to Lake St. Clair and its older plumbing infrastructure make ceiling water damage one of the most common repair calls we receive. Whether it’s a slow roof leak in your Grosse Pointe Farms colonial or burst pipes in a Grosse Pointe Woods ranch, The Patch Guyz respond quickly to mitigate damage. We replace waterlogged drywall, treat mold-prone areas, restore ceiling texture to match surrounding surfaces, and prime and paint for a finished result. We also serve nearby communities including Harper Woods and St. Clair Shores.

Texture Matching & Wall Finishing
Matching existing wall textures is both an art and a science — and it is the single most important skill for any contractor working in Grosse Pointe. The Patch Guyz bring sample boards to every job site and blend new texture into existing walls for repairs that are truly invisible. We expertly match knockdown, orange peel, skip trowel, swirl, slap brush, and the smooth finishes found in Grosse Pointe’s mid-century modern homes. For homeowners in Canton Township and Dearborn Heights, we bring the same precision and care.
Explore our finishing services →Serving All Five Grosse Pointe Communities
Each of the five Grosse Pointes has its own distinct architectural character and wall repair needs. Our crews know these neighborhoods intimately.
Grosse Pointe City • The Village
The oldest of the five communities, Grosse Pointe City centers on Kercheval Avenue and is home to some of the area’s most prized historic properties. We regularly restore plaster walls in 1920s Tudor and Colonial Revival homes, repair ceiling cracks caused by settling foundations near the waterfront, and provide drywall installation for basement remodels in the Village’s charming older residences. Our work here demands the highest level of finish quality to match the caliber of homes that define this community.
Grosse Pointe Farms • Lake Shore Drive Estates
Home to the most prestigious addresses in Michigan, Grosse Pointe Farms features sprawling lakefront estates that require meticulous wall and ceiling work. The Patch Guyz have completed extensive whole-house drywall restoration projects in Farms estates, repaired water-damaged ceilings from Lake St. Clair exposure, and matched historic plaster textures in homes designed by renowned architects. We understand that homeowners along Lake Shore Drive expect nothing less than perfection, and we deliver exactly that on every project. We also serve Northville homeowners with the same elite standard.
Grosse Pointe Park • Jefferson Corridor
Bordering Detroit along Jefferson Avenue, Grosse Pointe Park offers a diverse mix of historic homes, mid-century bungalows, and newer constructions. Our Park services include drywall patching from doorknob damage, joint compound repair for cracked seams, insulation upgrades behind drywall, and soundproofing walls for homes near busy Jefferson traffic. The Park’s mix of housing stock means our technicians must be versatile — transitioning seamlessly from plaster repair in a 1930s Colonial to clean drywall finishing in a recently renovated property.
Grosse Pointe Woods • Lochmoor & Residential
As the most populous of the five Grosse Pointes, Grosse Pointe Woods is filled with family homes that need reliable, affordable drywall repair. Common projects include nail hole patching, drywall repair after electrical work, popcorn ceiling removal and replacement with modern smooth finishes, and basement finishing with moisture-resistant drywall. We also work extensively with Warren and Eastpointe homeowners who value the same quality craftsmanship at competitive prices.
Grosse Pointe Shores • Windmill Pointe
The smallest and northernmost of the five communities, Grosse Pointe Shores features exclusive lakefront properties near Windmill Pointe Park where wall and ceiling repairs must withstand the unique humidity challenges of living directly on Lake St. Clair. The Patch Guyz use moisture-resistant drywall systems and specialized vapor barrier techniques for Shores homes, repair ceiling damage from condensation, and provide exterior wall insulation upgrades behind new drywall. Our Shores clients also appreciate our referral network connecting them to trusted Oakland County and Macomb County contractors for related projects.

Why Delaying Drywall Repair Costs Grosse Pointe Homeowners More
In Grosse Pointe’s humid lakefront climate, even small wall and ceiling issues can escalate rapidly. Ignoring damage doesn’t save money — it multiplies repair costs and threatens your home’s structural integrity and air quality.
Mold Growth Behind Walls
Small water stains on your ceiling often indicate moisture behind the drywall. In as little as 48 hours, mold colonies can form inside wall cavities — a serious health hazard that requires expensive remediation if left unchecked.
Structural Weakening
Cracked drywall or crumbling plaster can signal foundation settling or framing issues. In historic Grosse Pointe homes, these problems compound quickly and can affect your home’s market value and structural safety.
Higher Energy Bills
Damaged drywall with gaps, cracks, or missing sections allows heated and cooled air to escape. For large Grosse Pointe homes, this can add hundreds of dollars per year to utility bills that proper drywall repair would eliminate.

No matter what type of wall or ceiling issue you are facing, The Patch Guyz have the experience and equipment to handle it.

We had significant plaster damage in our 1928 colonial in Grosse Pointe Farms after a roof leak. The Patch Guyz not only repaired the ceiling perfectly but matched the original hand-troweled plaster texture that three other contractors said was impossible. The result is absolutely seamless — you cannot tell where the repair ends and the original begins. Worth every penny.
Called The Patch Guyz on a Monday morning after discovering water damage on our living room ceiling. They were at our Grosse Pointe Park home by noon the same day, assessed the situation, and completed the entire repair by Wednesday. Professional crew, clean worksite, and the ceiling looks brand new. Highly recommend for any Grosse Pointe homeowner.
We hired The Patch Guyz to remove our popcorn ceilings and replace them with a smooth finish throughout our Grosse Pointe Woods home. The transformation is incredible. They also repaired several cracks that had developed over the years and textured the new ceiling to blend with our existing walls. Our house feels ten years newer.
